Tissue study: cut skin and subcutaneous adipose

The quality of the images isn't great because they were photographed instead of scanned. This is a really fun assignment. 6 sketches down, 21 to go!

Immunology Illustration

As far as I am concerned this is finished! I can't believe how long this project took and how many revisions it went through. I am so relieved to be done. At least I hope I am. I am still waiting on some feedback from one of my instructors...
Illustrator CS5 and lots of patience. I've included the illustration by itself and inserted in its intended context as a page spread in a scientific publication because the actual layout and the schematics that accompany the text took a bit of time as well!

Brachial Plexus meet Illustrator

This was a really small assignment for our immunology class. We were asked to take a drawing we produced for textbook illustration and render it in Adobe illustrator using a cel shading approach. It's not great but I thought I'd post it.

Gross Anatomy Pathology assignment

So happy to be done this one! This assignment really made me come to the conclusion that I simply can't produce my very best work when I am pressed for time, have a million things on my plate and pretty much just want to finish so I can sleep and relax for a little while. I don't like what I've produced, but I accept that I couldn't have done more.

final immunology sketch

At least I hope it is. I've been asked to make so many revisions (by my content expert) that I pretty much loathe this assignment and what i've produced. I hope rendering the final goes more smoothly. At this point I just want to come out of this with something I'm at least a teensy bit proud of. This draft was painted in photoshop on top of the hand drawn sketch. I added labels and some schematic type things in illustrator.

pen and ink (a.k.a. cheating with steadler pens)

I really don't like how this turned out but I am posting it anyway. We have so much work right now that I don't feel I can spend enough time on something to make it look as good as I want. Anyway, the labeling isn't quite finished. Ugh... so tired.

Ugolino and His Sons

This is a graphite study of a European statue at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. This was one of my portfolio pieces for entrance into BMC. I'm posting it now because I got a high quality scan done at a print shop and I think it's looking pretty good.

something old

Haven't had much time to spend drawing or experimenting, but this is something I started a long time ago and I finally finished. Adobe Illustrator CS3 with photo reference.

work in progress

Further attempt at improving my photoshop rendering skills. I've only really finished the face and hair so far...
